Pioneering new frontiers

Today, I sewed with a pattern. I made Brynn some shorts from McCalls #5797. You can see it here. I used a hand me down crib sheet from Brynn's older cousin (thanks!) so it was free. Here's what I learned:

1. This pattern runs big.
2. It's pretty dang cute anyway.
3. Sewing instructions are not at all clear for someone who has no idea what they are doing.
4. Illustrations are lifesavers.

It took about 4 hours, including about 75 minutes of cussing at a single simple pocket and ripping out three rows of stitches.

Anyway, here's the result:

Here I go again

I've tried blogging once. I failed. This one will probably fail too, but I'm really super duper tired of having 30 blogs in my bookmarks menu to follow all the time, and this will be easier. I sew. sorta. I don't know what I'm doing. But it's been fun learning as I go. I have about 15,345,673 things I want to try and make and about 12.4 minutes of spare time a day to try and make them, so we'll see. Love ya!
